Data Security Course

We built this Netflix-style course for the Zillow Group. They were looking for a fresh new spin on their security awareness training.

The Zillow Group was looking for a fresh take on Data Security Awareness training. We worked with the Zillow team to identify some of the most common causes of security breaches within their organization. Using this information, we created a 'mini-series' that walks the user through the experience of Carl B. Human. Carl is an employee at Zillow who has his email account hacked using common practices. Each episode explores Carls actions and how the hack could have been prevented using simple security techniques.

The Security Awareness Training project aims to educate and empower employees to develop a strong security mindset and adopt best practices, reducing the risk of security breaches and data leaks. By enhancing employees' knowledge of security risks, fostering behavioral change, and implementing effective security measures, the project aims to create a culture of accountability and proactive security engagement within the organization.

Project Goals:

Raise awareness: Increase participants' awareness of security risks and threats in the digital landscape and their potential impact on organizational and personal information security.
Analyze threats: Evaluate various security threats, including social engineering, malware, and unauthorized access, that pose risks to information security.
Inspire action: Motivate participants to adopt best practices, such as secure password management, safe browsing habits, and email security, to mitigate risks and protect sensitive information actively.
Empower learners: Provide participants with the knowledge and skills to identify and report security incidents promptly and effectively, ensuring they can take appropriate action to minimize potential damage and prevent future incidents.
Foster responsibility: Cultivate a sense of personal responsibility and accountability in maintaining a secure work environment, encouraging participants to contribute to the organization's overall information security posture actively.

The Solution:

Zillow wanted to utilize a video-based course to showcase real-life scenarios and examples of security risks, threats, and incident response, engaging participants and enhancing their understanding of the subject matter. Through the video format, participants can analyze threats, witness best practices in action, and develop a deeper connection to the importance of security awareness. This interactive and immersive approach fosters active learning, encourages critical thinking, and enables participants to apply their knowledge and skills in practical situations, ultimately achieving the desired learning outcomes.
